Lesson 78 - Know How to Keep Your Audience Engaged

Your ability to practice and get your point across and one that is crucial to your business.

I want you to assess your audience before you begin preparing your speech.

You want to ask your audience questions that are relevant to them.

What do you want to do that will set you apart from anybody else?

What are the challenges they are facing?

Ask yourself…

Why did they bring you in?

Was it optional for them to attend?

Are they required to be there?

If you know what you're going up against, you can begin to prepare yourself accordingly.

So, assessing your audience gives you a good reading of who they are and how to prepare your material for them.

Let's look at some additional questions that you must ask when assessing your audience: age, gender, and cultural information.

What are they facing?

Are there rumors of a layoff?

What's going on here?

So think about these things, ask these questions.

What do they want from you?

Are they looking for information on how they can do their jobs better?

As you assess your audience, you will be able to begin to create some possible points that will fit that audience and these points will expand and change as you continue to progress.

You still need to have a general idea of what direction your presentation will be, even before you create an actual outline.

Prior to working at a company where they were changing the work culture.

Change was taking place rapidly.

They had to learn new technology.

I had to make a presentation that would touch on the value of embracing change rather than being intimidated by change and fearing being eliminated by change.

The other thing is, I knew that they wanted to laugh.

I knew that they wanted to be entertained as well as the upbeat when they left that presentation.

So I had to assemble the points that I was covered to let them know and give them an indication that I knew what they had gone through, congratulated them for the commitment that they had made, and also began to let them go and sell them on the fact that it was possible… and whatever their goals, wherever they could achieve those goals even more that was only a tip of the iceberg of what's possible for them.

I told them that they had power to do even more than I had them to give me some information to confirm and join me right now.

I said:

Repeat after me: I have the power to reach my goal reach my goal. I can do it.

You have to get them involved.

I knew going and speaking with various corporations not having any background or technical experience in those areas.

I never came and tried to give a technical speech or your message by matching what you offer what they need. Here's what I offer.

I found my niche… my niche was to motivate them and inspire them to do that which they knew the information that they had all the training, increase their sales, I didn't go in and try,to give them any sales gifts.

Develop your opening, middle and ending as separate but related parts of the presentation.

You want it all connected to be weaved in together.

Develop your opening and ending separate but related parts of the presentation.

If you use like I talked about, focus, follow through I will have certain stories and examples that came under the category of focus certain examples that came under the category of faith and certain examples of game under the category of follow through I've developed an outline to

manage time.

Once you’ve laid out your presentation, went to speak to the organization and their theme was a vision for the future.

Do a walk through for timing and to hear what you think the audience will be hearing.

A walkthrough for timing to hear what you think the audience will be hearing.

Visualize the speech with the patient and give it successfully. walk through for timing and to hear what you think. audience to hear me.

Visualize the speech presentation being given successfully.

Doing a walk through for timing and to hear what you think the audience will be hearing or you want to walk the way you want to see most people will not give this kind of care to that reason.

I was at home I elaborate meeting and doing research and looking at videos and listening to people.

It is worth it. If this is your passion.

It is worth that kind of that kind of effort to hear what you think the audience will be hearing and visualize the speech reason they should be given. Definitely. I visualized.

I saw it in my mind's eye take the time I walked through it visually. make appropriate adjustments to make the message as receivable as possible. appropriate adjustments, make the message as receivable as possible.

Here's something that I do particularly, I'm starting out now speaking to the body language and looking and observing the audience, meeting the audience that indicated like who do you think you are?

What I did was, I would start off like this…

Thank you very much for this opportunity to speak to you.

Never go to a joke book. It gives them some fuel out of a joke book to tell it before driving down the street. The funny thing happens when people read that same joke.

You want to be natural and spontaneous.
