My mother had absolutely no idea on how she was going to raise two children by herself.
And five years after that, she adopted my sister.
Now, that said something to me.
Because many times I think the reason that most people don't do the things they want to
do, don't achieve the goals that they can achieve is they look at where they are, look at
where they want to go.
And they ask themselves the question, How am I going to do it?
Well, I think that we all familiar with the statement, you must walk by faith and not by
sight, that I believe that life does not give you any answers until you first make the
plunge, that you've got to go out there.
You've got to be willing to take a chance and risk it.
Most people go through life, playing it safe.
You can't prove everything.
There are certain things that you just KNOW.
Then, you have to make the commitment.
And that's what I feel that I have done and people who have ever done anything in life.
See, if you want to reach your goals, if you want to do more in life, I don't think that you can be realistic. In a sense, I think that you have to be unreasonable, if you want to produce unreasonable results in your life, because logical reasonable thinking will tell you, given my circumstances, given my environment, given what life has dealt me, I shouldn't be doing what I'm doing right now see logical thinking, caused man for years to walk and ride the backs of animals.
Not only that I learned from my mother that you must know within yourself that you can do what it is you want to do, even though you don't have any evidence to prove it.
And you must make the commitment to do it.
You’ve got to be positive about life, you've got to feel and affirm constantly, that things can happen for you positively.
My mother used to say when times were very hard for us, it's not going to be this way, always.
Things are going to get better.
The way I overcame being labeled educable mentally retarded, was very key for me, because remember when I met a man that changed my life in a real positive sense.
I realize and my talking to people, that you've got to check out what kind of thoughts and opinion sand feelings do you have about you?
Because the limitations that you have, and the negative things that you have, that you've internalized have been given to you by the world will empower you.
The lower your self-appreciation is, the less you feel about yourself… the greater the need for you to want to be accepted and be loved by others.
And that's why it's so important that we start early on empowering ourselves and having people around us that can empower us and make us feel our own sense of specialness and uniqueness.
