Lesson 66 - Define Your Goals

Do you have goals?

Goals are like roadmaps that give direction for where you want your life journey to take you.

Without a direction, you have nothing to commit yourself to.

I want you to look at your life right now, and ask yourself:

What are some major goals that you can now attach your life to?

What kind of work do you have to do to become the kind of person that can reach those goals?

How is it that you've got to change?

You see, if you don't have any goals for your life, you're not heading anywhere.

One of the goals I had was to become a better father.

I thought that it was enough to just pay the bills, buy their clothes, pick them up and take them places and do things with them.

But then I discovered that it's one thing to give the check.

It's something else, to give yourself…

To learn how to listen…

To go from preaching and teaching and becoming a friend and listening and sharing.

And being real and being honest and being genuine.

It's a whole different program, because I honestly didn't know what it took to be a father.

So, I started to talk with friends who were fathers and who were GOOD fathers and who I felt

were good role models for me.

Part of what you want to begin to do when you look at some goals that you want is look at somebody who's doing what you want to do and LEARN from them.

I decided that being a speaker alone was not enough.

I had to learn how to become a businessman had learned how to work with people and manage people and manage tasks.

I had to start talking to people that I knew that were conducting their business in an EFFICIENT way.

I developed a relationship with them.

I started reading books and learning everything that I possibly could.

Don’t be vague about your goals.

What are the things you need to do daily?

What is it that you need to do today?

What are your weekly, monthly, six-month and yearly goals?

Write down how you see yourself a year, two years, and five years from now.

Describe what will be there for you.

How much will you be worth?

How much training would you have received?

How much time would you have invested in developing yourself?

How well you work with people that will determine how successful you are in reaching your goals.

You can't do it by yourself.

I encourage you to begin to establish a network of people in your related area that will enable you to move in the direction where you want to go.

If you decide to deliberately evade your own greatness, I can guarantee you that you're going to be miserable.

When you are not living up to your true greatness, you are committing spiritual suicide.

Decide that you are going to focus on developing yourself and putting together a strategy to reach your goal.

See you next week
