I want to talk to you about basically three things.
Number one, we've got to have a larger vision of ourselves.
Number two, living a committed life.
Now more than ever, we have to have a larger vision of who we are.
That even if you give us jobs, even if you give us money, even if you give us more opportunity, because of the tremendous psychic disrepair in which we are suffering from as the people are getting who and what we are the debilitating effect that has been raised in a society that is permeated by racism and discrimination.
Buying into the lies that we've heard about ourselves as being subhuman or inferior, coupled with the epidemic level of teenage pregnancy, high school dropout, drugs, crime, that now more than ever, we have to have a ministry that empowers us.
A ministry that we can begin to feel within ourselves that regardless of what's happening right now, I've got a feeling that everything is going to be alright. Oh, you sometimes I don't think we understand how important that is, even when you don't have any signs to to confirm that. It's very important to have that feeling because that's what Paul meant when he said,
You must walk by faith and not by sight.
To be able to win when folks are counting us out, when folks have written us off in our young people to be able to have the kind of vision and determination say, in spite of what they're saying out there.
We are going to control what happens to our future.
You know, the primary cause of man's suffering is forgetfulness.
We've forgotten who we all because we've been mis educated to think that we have something other than what we actually are.
He said when you can control what a man shall think, you will never ever have to concern yourself with what he will do.
When you can make a man feel inferior, you'll never have to compel him to seek an inferior status where he will seek it himself.
When you can make a man feel justly outcast, you will never ever have to order him to the back door.
He will go without being told.
We have been so wiped out mentally and emotionally and spiritually that we've got to begin to empower ourselves.
There's an old African proverb that says if there's no enemy within the enemy outside can do us no harm.
Work on yourself.
I submit to you today that all of us know that we can do better than what we have been doing.
And we have a commitment to do that.
